Seville never really stops having fun. But during the Feria de Abril, the city is even more musical, more festive, and more spectacular than normal. Seville rewards itself for surviving winter by pitching hundreds of tents, stalls, and casetas (canvas booths) near the river and creating a mini-city. The Feria was created in the mid-19th century as an agricultural fair, and it has evolved into a series of full-blown spectacles that bring the countryside into the city. There are circuses, parades of horsemen, and Spain's most important bullfights.

At evening, the binge spills into the city. Thousands of lanterns light the night, flamenco groups sing and dance on jasmined balconies, and the aroma of saffron and garlic is everywhere. Wine and sangrma flow non-stop, and for six days and nights the Feria continues at an incredible spinning pace.•
